Description:
Academic English aims to prepare students for university study at undergraduate
or postgraduate level. It prepares students for the type of academic tasks, texts
and skills that they need to master for successful study at university. It also
prep ares them to participate in lectures and tutorials.
Students
learn to:
- develop independent learning skills
- develop research skills
- write and present academic texts
- give oral presentations
- participate effectively in and lead tutorials and discussions.
Assessment:
Assessment includes ongoing in-class and homework assignments, oral presentations
and tests. Assessment is designed partly to help prepare students for the type
of assessment tasks that students will encounter at university.
Entry requirements:
English level: intermediate – advanced and IELTS 5 or above.
Further study options with successful completion
of course:
Academic English courses prepare students for university study in Australia.
On completion of the highest level of Academic English, students are eligible
to undertake a placement test for our direct entry programs, IELTS or Cambridge
