Description:
This program develops speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for
a variety of contexts. Some students move on to Academic English and further
study at Macquarie University, others use General English to develop effective
skills in speaking listening, reading and writing, a necessity for success in
a global environment.
Students learn to:
- improve listening skills by listening to a variety of authentic English
accents
- read a range of authentic texts eg. From newspapers and magazines and general
literature
- write a range of general text types
- participate confidently in discussions
- give oral presentations.
Assessment:
This consists of ongoing written in-class and homework
assignments, tests, written and oral presentations with a final test.
Entry requirements:
English level: beginner – upper intermediate.
Further study options with successful completion
of course:
Students can improve their English for work and or travel purposes, or go onto
further English or other studies.
Additional information:
General English classes at NCELTR are a wonderful
