The reader provides two very personal and different accounts of Anzac day. The first story is told by Joe, an Australian soldier fighting at Gallipoli during World War I, who writes about his war experiences to his son, Jack; the second is a modern day account of Anzac Day and is told by John, the great-grandson of Joe. After finding his great-grandfather’s war medals in a box, John decides to pay tribute to him by writing him a letter.
